Candle Care & Safety

Burn safely, burn well

Your ZUNGZA candle is hand-poured soy wax in a vessel carved from natural cinnamon bark. A little care makes it burn cleaner, last longer, and stay safe.

Safety first

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Keep away from children and pets.
  • Keep away from anything that can catch fire — curtains, bedding, paper, books, dried flowers.
  • Burn on a stable, heat-resistant, level surface. The vessel gets warm during use.
  • Keep away from drafts, vents, ceiling fans and open windows — a moving flame soots and burns unevenly.
  • Do not move a candle while it is lit or while the wax is still liquid.
  • Never use liquid to extinguish a candle. Use a snuffer, or the lid.
  • Stop burning when about 1/2 inch (10 mm) of wax remains in the vessel.

The first burn matters most

Let the wax melt all the way to the edge of the vessel on the first burn — roughly 2 to 3 hours. Soy wax has a memory: if you blow it out early the first time, it will tunnel down the middle for the rest of its life.

Trim the wick every time

Before each burn, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch (6 mm) and remove any debris from the wax. A long wick means a tall flame, black smoke, and soot on the vessel.

Keep sessions under 4 hours

Burn for no more than 4 hours at a time, then let the candle cool completely before relighting. Longer sessions overheat the wax and the vessel.

About the cinnamon bark vessel

The wick and wax burn inside an inner container. The bark wall warms up and releases its own natural scent — it is not the fuel. Even so, treat it like any candle: the outside becomes warm, so use a coaster or tray, and follow every rule above.

Because each vessel is carved from a different piece of bark, the grain, colour and shape vary from candle to candle. Yours will not look identical to the product photo.

When the wax runs out

Wash out the remaining wax with warm soapy water once the vessel is completely cool. The bark keeps its scent, so it works well as a holder for pens, matches, jewellery, or a small dry plant.

Storage

Store upright, away from direct sunlight and heat. Sunlight fades colour and dulls fragrance over time.
